1936 College Football Final Rankings

In yesterday's post, we mentioned that the Pittsburgh Panthers, in our analysis, had the best season among top-division college football teams in 1936. 1936 was the first year of the AP poll, and voters chose Minnesota as their first national champion. Our analysis places the Golden Gophers at #4 for that season.

With the completion of the 2010 season, the AP Poll has been in existence for 75 years. In one of our upcoming posts we will do a full comparison of those 75 years. How many of those years did the voters' national champion match up with our analysis? We'll also be posting our list of the most successful top-division college football programs over the last 75 years. Watch for these postings in the coming week.
