1927 College Football Final Rankings

1927 was the first year in which the goal posts were moved to the end of the end zone instead of the goal line. The Illinois Illini were declared national champions under the Dickinson System. Stanford met Alabama for the second year in a row in the Rose Bowl (after the two teams had tied 7-7 the previous year) and won the game 7-6. However, the team our analysis shows had the best season that year was only ranked #11 in the Dickinson System and wasn't even considered for the Rose Bowl - the Texas A&M Aggies. Ironically, Illinois is ranked #11 in our analysis. Even more surprisingly, the Rose Bowl competitors end up ranked 41st (Alabama) and 48th (Stanford).
