Updated College Football Program Rankings

The 2011 College Football season is here! And, right on cue, we post our own rankings of college football's top-division programs. Rankings are based on a combination of tradition (historical success) and recent success. 99 years of data were included in these rankings - the entire history of the modern era of college football clear back to 1912, which was the first year touchdowns were awarded six points and teams were given four downs instead of three. We've also calculated what our program rankings would have been at the end of each season (or entering the next season - whichever you prefer) to create an instant history for the rankings stretching clear back to 1912.

So, what is the result of all of this analysis? For the sixth straight year, Ohio State is the top college football program in America, according to our analysis. Oklahoma moves up one spot from third to second from last year, and Alabama moves up two spots to complete the top three.
